What Is Acacia Flower Tea?
Acacia flower tea is made from the dried white blossoms of the black locust tree (Robinia pseudoacacia). Across Central and Eastern Europe this tree is commonly called acacia, and its fragrant flower clusters are the source of the well-known pale acacia honey.
The blossoms are picked in late spring when the tree is in full bloom, then dried. Dried acacia flowers are cream to light beige, and they keep a sweet, delicate scent that comes through in the cup as a light, floral tea with a gentle natural sweetness.
Acacia flower tea is a traditional seasonal tea in the Balkans and Central Europe. It is enjoyed on its own or blended with other flowers such as linden, elderflower and chamomile, and a small amount also adds a floral note to green or white tea. Some people also use the flowers in homemade syrups and herbal blends.
The black locust is native to the eastern United States, but it has grown in Europe for more than three hundred years. Today it is one of the most common flowering trees in Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania, and when it blooms in May whole hillsides smell of its flowers.
Our acacia flowers contain only dried black locust blossoms. They are sold by weight, from small packs to bulk.
