What Is Jasmine Flower Powder?
Jasmine flower powder is made from the dried flowers of Jasminum grandiflorum, also called Spanish, Royal or Catalonian jasmine. It is a climbing shrub of the olive family native to South Asia and the Arabian Peninsula, with star-shaped white flowers that are pink on the outside and intensely fragrant, especially in the evening.
Jasminum grandiflorum is the jasmine of perfumery. It has been grown for centuries in India, Egypt, Morocco and in Grasse in southern France for jasmine absolute, one of the most precious flower essences. In India, jasmine flowers are woven into garlands and hair ornaments and offered in temples.
The flowers are dried and milled into a fine, pale powder with a soft, sweet floral note. Jasmine powder is used mainly in natural beauty and body care: in face masks and ubtan with clay, sandalwood, rose or chickpea flour, in herbal hair packs, and to add a light scent to soap, bath salts, bath bombs, body powders and drawer sachets.
Dried flowers have a much softer scent than fresh blooms or essential oil, so jasmine powder works best as a gentle, natural floral note.
Our jasmine flower powder contains only ground Jasminum grandiflorum flowers with nothing added. It is sold by weight, from small packs to bulk.
