What Is Moringa Leaf?

Moringa (Moringa oleifera) is a fast-growing tree native to the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India and now grown throughout the tropics of Asia, Africa and Latin America. It is also called the drumstick tree, after its long, slender seed pods, and the horseradish tree, after the taste of its roots.

Almost the whole tree is eaten in its home regions. The small, round, bright green leaves are cooked like spinach in Indian, Filipino and African dishes, such as Filipino tinola and South Indian sambar, and the young pods are a popular vegetable.

We offer dried moringa leaf in two forms. Moringa leaf powder is finely ground and has a vivid green color and a fresh, green, slightly earthy and peppery taste, similar to spinach or matcha. It blends easily into smoothies, juices, soups, sauces, dips, pesto and baked goods. Cut moringa leaf is ideal for brewing a light, grassy herbal tea.

Moringa is naturally rich in protein for a leafy plant, which is why it has become a popular green ingredient worldwide.

Our moringa contains only dried Moringa oleifera leaves, powder or cut, with nothing added. It is sold by weight, from small packs to bulk.
